New Beers & Craft Beer Rising
Amongst the new wave of independent beer festivals, Craft Beer Rising is one of the longest standing and most highly regarded. Held every year at the end of February and located in the Old Truman’s Brewery, Brick Lane, London, CBR is 8 years old in 2018. Over three days (22nd-24th February) CBR18 will play host to 170 breweries, live music, DJ’s, street food vendors, 12,000 thirsty beer lovers and, for the first time, Mad Squirrel!
Yes, that’s right, we will be running our own Mad Squirrel stand at CBR18, We’re at stand number 70 which (despite the high number) is actually one of the very front stands. So Mad Squirrel will be the first brewery you see when you walk through the door!
We’re incredibly excited to be attending CBR18, and be rubbing shoulders with so many industry leaders, and breweries whom we admire. This is a great chance to get our brands in front of people who may never have heard of us before, tell people our story and get people to try our beers!
Being one of 170 breweries in attendance, we need to bring our A game to stand out from the crowd. We will have 6 keg taps pouring all weekend and a fridge filled with smallpack too. As part of the range we have got a couple of exclusive previews and limited edition brews. If your coming to Craft Beer Rising then you can expect to see the following beers at the Mad Squirrel stand.
Our core range Czech style pilsner, always aged for at least 45 days in tank, this current batch had a whopping 65 day, and is smooth, balanced, refreshing and highly drinkable. Often breweries use these festivals to bring out a whole host of complex and challenging brews. A pils is always a perfect way to reset your palate.
Our core range APA and our number one beer! This beer has been knocking competitors off keg taps throughout London and the Home Counties and is quickly developing a bit of a cult following.
Our core range Opaque IPA, this will be one of the first chances to try batch 3, brewed with El Dorado, Cardinal, Mosaic, Calypso, Loral and Wakatu hops. Super fresh, super juicy and super hazy, this one should win over the hopheads present.
Our current limited edition American Brown Ale, released last Saturday in our Tap & Bottle Shops, the heavier malt bill gives biscuit and grain notes which are danced over by a dry hopping bill of Comet Citra and Mosaic giving it a lively tropical burst at the end.
De La Nut
The second variant on our core range milk stout, De La Crème, this time with added hazelnuts, 4.5% smooth, creamy with a decadent nutty edge this will be poured at CBR18 before anywhere else.
Our newest limited-edition beer, a 6.0% quad hopped Saison. This is our mash up between the old world Belgian classic style and 21st Century hop obsession. The malt bill includes Spelt, as well as regular Malted Barley. The mega hop bill includes El Dorado leaf (added during the mash), Chinook and a touch of Sorachi Ace in the boil and then double-dry hopped with Loral, Citra and Idaho 007. It has been fermented with a blend of Vermont and Belle Saison yeast. It’s been naturally carbonated and will be served unfined (as are all the beers on tap on our bar). The beer should be assertively zingy and citrussy with a white pepper edge and a drying finish. This is one of our most adventurous beers to date and we are thrilled to be pouring it at CBR18 before anywhere else!
