We are exceptionally thrilled to announce that we have secured a site for the sixth Mad Squirrel Tap & Bottle Shop in the Hertfordshire market town of Harpenden!
We have had our sites set on opening in Harpenden for some time now; the town is a bustling commuter area, with direct links to Kings Cross station and a total population just shy of 30,000. The High Street is a buzzing hub of activity 7 days a week and despite there being several pubs and bars in the vicinity, there is no craft beer offering in the town. That is now set to change as we prepare to open on the High Street.
We have secured a 2000 sq. foot site situated at the north end of the High Street. The location benefits from significant exposure to passing traffic and footfall and is only a 5-minute walk from Harpenden station. It is a perfect location in which we can show the people of Harpenden how great beer can be.
Mad Squirrel Tap & Bottle Shop Harpenden will have 16 beers on tap (12 keg, 4 cask) over 100 different bottled and canned beers, a craft gin offering, ciders and wines. As with all sites we will have a dual on/off licence so products can be enjoyed in store or taken away to enjoy elsewhere. The outlet will also benefit from plenty of indoor seating and an outdoor terrace area to the rear of the building, which overlooks St. Nicholas’ church. Perfect for summer drinking!
In a slight development to our model, Harpenden will be the first Mad Squirrel site to provide sliders as the main food offering. Sliders are small burgers that are usually consumed two or three at a time alongside chips and other side dishes. We will be adding sliders to our offering to help beat the beer munchies!
Work on the site is expected to begin in early June and the sixth Mad Squirrel Tap & Bottle Shop is set to open later in the summer. We are incredibly excited to be opening in Harpenden and to be sharing the news of quality brews with the residents of AL5 and surrounding areas.
